YouTube livestreams Auschwitz memorial ceremony

In recognition of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, YouTube now will be livestreaming the main commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, which will take place outside Gate of infamous Death Camp GMT 14: 30.

The event will include speeches of several former camp prisoners, and also show a special commemorative documentary, simply titled Auschwitz. The 15-minute film has been produced by the USC Shoah Foundation, chaired by Steven Spielberg Spielberg.Steven.


In explaining why the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz is so significant, director of the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum Piotr MA CywiƄski said: "We must speak plainly. It is the last great anniversary we can celebrate with a large group of survivors to now. They taught us to look at the tragedy of the victims of the Third Reich and the total destruction of the world of European Jews has been ".

"With the absence of their voices in the future," he continued, "the responsibility will fall on us, the postwar generations" to pass this horrible knowledge and crushing conclusions derived from it."

Google has previously worked with the Auschwitz Birkenau State Museum to digitize its exhibitions as part of the Google Cultural Institutes project so that the content of the artistic and educational sites is accessible to people around the world.
